A machine tool company is hiring a Swiss CNC Applications Engineer to lead turnkey project execution, pre-sale technical support, and customer training on Swiss style and multi-tasking CNC equipment. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with customer facing engineering work, traveling to customer sites to support setup, training, and process development.
Schedule
Full time, with regular travel to customer sites for training and engineering support.
Compensation
$80,000 to $140,000 per year, based on experience.
What You'll Do
This role runs turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer related engagements from start to finish, ensuring each is completed on time and within budget. The engineer conducts pre-sale activities including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations, and development of turnkey proposals. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe setup and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, grinders, Swiss style lathes, and multi-tasking machines. The role also involves preparing accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications, along with traveling to customer sites for onsite training and engineering assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in sliding headstock (Swiss) CNC machine tool engineering and manufacturing
- In depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and relevant product lines
- Knowledge of Fanuc based controls
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and conversational programming
- Strong situational judgment with the ability to assess problems quickly and make sound decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-axis machining experience
- Prior experience in a customer facing applications engineering or technical sales support role
- Experience developing or delivering technical training programs for machine operators
