Backend Support Engineer
Job description:
- Establish and manage the CI/CD pipeline, environment configuration, observability, and alerting.
- Manage backend release processes and collaborate with the Mobile Engineer on App Store and Google Play Store releases.
- Build observability dashboards and incident runbooks, and partner with the Operations team to resolve customer-facing production issues.
- Provide secondary backend support by handling Java / Spring Boot development tasks when required.
- Utilize AI-augmented engineering for runbook creation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability dashboards, and incident triage.
- Develop reusable DevOps templates that can be leveraged across future projects and engagements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Platform Engineering with a backend focus.
- Hands-on experience with at least one CI/CD tool (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins), one observability platform (Datadog, New Relic, or Grafana), and one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Working knowledge of Java / Spring Boot, with the ability to support backend development tasks when required.
- AI-native engineering mindset with experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows.
- Ability to perform effectively during production incidents with awareness of SOC 2 and ISO 27001 practices.
- Experience instrumenting commercial SLAs or vendor engagements will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with App Store and Google Play Store release processes will be an added advantage.
