CAD Design Supervisor

This role leads the CAD Design Department at a global manufacturing facility, overseeing a team of CAD designers and operators while supporting engineering projects from concept through production. This is a highly visible leadership position that serves as the site’s technical expert for CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, working closely with Engineering Leadership to shape department standards and processes.

Schedule
On-site position based at the Lebanon, Tennessee manufacturing facility.

Compensation
$75,000 to $90,000 base salary, plus a target annual bonus of up to 8.5%. Relocation assistance is available.

What You’ll Do

This person will supervise, coach, mentor, and develop a team of CAD designers and CAD operators, establishing department priorities and assigning engineering design resources as needed. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving engineering drawings, 3D models, and documentation, supporting Engineering Change Orders and the Product Change Process, and maintaining CAD drafting standards and best practices across the department.

This role also manages CAD Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, serving as the site’s CAD software administrator and technical resource, including SolidWorks administration, upgrades, and user training. This person will coordinate engineering documentation with Project Engineers and Engineering Managers, conduct drawing audits to ensure compliance with company standards, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives that raise productivity and design quality. Additional responsibilities include assisting with hiring, coaching, performance evaluations, and employee development, reviewing weekly timecards, assisting with departmental budgeting, and performing hands-on CAD design work when needed.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in CAD Design, Engineering, Drafting, or a related technical discipline

• 5+ years of professional CAD design experience

• 2+ years leading or supervising CAD designers or drafters

• Strong experience using SolidWorks

• Experience managing engineering drawings and documentation

• Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAD Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), including SAP PLM

• Experience with engineering change management and configuration management

• Experience in a manufacturing environment

• Experience with engineering documentation control

• SolidWorks administration experience
