Controls Engineer

We are currently seeking a Controls Engineer for our office located in Albuquerque, NM. As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for various controls engineering projects, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA programming, control panel design, instrumentation specification, check-out support, and commissioning assistance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Executing projects:
    • Identifying and prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely completion
    • Proactively addressing issues and resolving conflicts
    • Collaborating with experienced engineers
    • Implementing continuous improvement measures to enhance project efficiency
    • Maintaining regular communication with clients
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and codes relevant to contracts and projects
  • Preparing technical documents, including project definitions and requirements, status reports, process control sequences, standard practices, and procedures
  • Providing engineering design, development, and implementation support for software (DCS/PLC, HMI, etc.) and assisting lead engineers in hardware engineering and systems design
  • Assisting with factory/site acceptance testing, user acceptance testing, and user training
  • Programming control logic, constructing graphics, configuring device communication, and database management
  • Reading, interpreting, and updating documents, drawings, and specifications related to process control and automation projects
Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline (preferably Electrical, Chemical, Controls or Computer Engineering). Equivalent experience with a technical degree will be considered
  • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in process control, manufacturing, or information services
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in Rockwell and Cimplicity
  • Experience in design, development, and deployment of PLCs, DCS, and/or SCADA/HMI systems
  • Strong leadership and client relation skills
  • Proficiency in engineering and documentation practices, and experience with collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint) for remote teamwork
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. SharePoint experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients and project leaders
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 25%
  • Preferred Skills (combination of the following):
    • Diverse Process Knowledge: Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Water & Wastewater, etc.
    • Experience with Schneider Unity programming
    • Allen Bradley ControlLogix programming (PlantPAx experience is a plus)
    • Experience with SCADA/HMI systems (ICONICS or Wonderware preferred)
    • Experience in checkout, testing, startup, and commissioning

Physical Demands:

Normal vision capabilities for AutoCad and architectural design tasks. Ability to hear and follow directions. Full dexterity of hands for computer use. Ability to sit and move around to meet job requirements and deadlines.
