Government Audit Senior

This public accounting firm is hiring an Audit Senior for its Government Services practice, working with state agencies, municipalities, school districts, and public institutions. This role executes audit engagements, manages key deliverables and timelines, and mentors staff auditors, with a hybrid work model.

Schedule: Full time, hybrid.

Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 per year.

What You’ll Do:
This Audit Senior will develop and implement audit programs aligned with identified risks, preparing and reviewing workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures. This role owns key areas of engagements, managing timelines and prioritizing deliverables to meet firm standards and client deadlines, while monitoring budgets and communicating with managers on necessary adjustments. This person will work directly with clients to understand their operations, address issues, and maintain professional relationships, escalating risks and sharing insights with engagement leadership. This role also includes mentoring and guiding staff auditors, reviewing their work for quality and completeness, providing feedback, and contributing to performance reviews and team development.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant audit experience

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, think critically, and communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

• Public accounting experience

• Experience with government or public-sector clients

• Familiarity with GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) standards

• Progress toward or attainment of CPA certification
