PCB Design Engineer – Circuit Design & Power Electronics
PCB Design Engineer – Circuit Design & Power Electronics
Up to $100,000 • Greater Milwaukee / Northeast Wisconsin Corridor • 100% Onsite • Direct-Hire
The Opportunity: Escape the narrow engineering silos of massive corporations and step into a high-impact role with a small, growing manufacturer where you own projects from concept through production. This fast-growing, privately held organization designs and produces highly engineered electronic products for demanding industrial applications, offering you direct access to leadership, genuine design influence, and absolute project autonomy.
- EXPERIENCE DEPTH: 4+ years of professional experience with a relevant degree, or 10+ years of proven, hands-on layout experience considered without a degree
- CORE EXPERTISE: Hands-on PCB layout, circuit design, and power supply development across analog and mixed-signal applications
- TECHNICAL LITREACY: Absolute proficiency in reading, creating, and interpreting electrical schematics, engineering specifications, and complete Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- EARNING POTENTIAL: Up to $100,000 base salary (fully scaling with experience and technical depth) + 401(k) and full corporate benefits package
- TRAVEL PROFILE: Up to 20 days per year of domestic travel to support product validation, field testing, or client installations
- LOCATION: Greater Milwaukee / Northeast Wisconsin corridor (Must reside within a dependable daily driving radius of the production facility)
- COMPLIANCE: United States work authorization required; corporate visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available
For an electrical engineer who has been confined to handling just one small slice of a larger product line at a bigger firm, this direct-hire opportunity represents a massive upgrade in professional scope. The employer has posted steady, year-over-year revenue growth by focusing on highly customized, performance-critical electronics. There are no large-organization bureaucratic layers here—your contributions are highly visible, technically substantive, and directly tied to the company’s product roadmap.
The workplace culture is built on results, high autonomy, and cross-functional collaboration. Instead of tossing designs over a wall, you will manage multiple concurrent programs, carry systems across the full lifecycle, and collaborate directly with manufacturing teams to see your boards roll off the line. Backed by excellent business stability and an expanding product portfolio, this position provides a long-term home where your technical craft is respected and rewarded.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing, modeling, and laying out multi-layer PCBs from initial concept through prototype, testing, and final production release.
- Developing and optimizing power supply designs, including robust analog and mixed-signal circuitry for demanding environments.
- Creating clean, functional electrical schematics, precise engineering specifications, and complete manufacturing BOMs.
- Supporting hands-on prototype builds, initial product testing, bench debugging, and factory floor manufacturing startup activities.
- Performing strict reliability analysis and collaborating with the quality assurance team to support formal compliance testing.
- Managing multiple concurrent projects and design priorities simultaneously to ensure milestones are met on schedule.
What We Are Looking For
- Circuit Design Pedigree: A solid, verifiable background in hardware development, with a strong focus on independent PCB layout and circuit troubleshooting.
- Power Supply Literacy: Practical experience developing power electronics, handling analog component selection, and managing mixed-signal layouts.
- Manufacturing Familiarity: Prior experience working within a regulated, quality-driven, or performance-critical manufacturing environment.
- Self-Directed Work Style: A motivated professional capable of driving project deliverables independently without requiring heavy day-to-day oversight.
- Strong Pluses: Direct experience with circuit simulation tools (such as PSpice), baseline firmware/embedded systems familiarity, or exposure to mechanical integration software (like SolidWorks).
