Senior Project Engineer- Roadway
Senior Project Engineer
Orlando, FL · Full-Time · Direct Hire · $110,000 to $150,000 per year
A Florida-based heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Project Engineer to support a major FDOT roadway and bridge infrastructure project in Orlando valued at over $100 million. This role suits a project engineer with large civil experience who is ready to take on broader responsibility across technical coordination, cost tracking, scheduling, quality, and field execution. The position connects the technical side of the work with day-to-day field activity, so it is well suited to someone who wants to operate beyond a documentation-only role.
Schedule Full-time, Monday through Friday, with hours aligned to project field operations. On-site in Orlando, Florida.
Compensation $110,000 to $150,000 per year, plus project bonus opportunity. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
What You'll Do You will help manage the technical, commercial, and coordination aspects of the FDOT infrastructure project. This includes leading and supporting project meetings with owners, foremen, subcontractors, supervisors, and internal project teams, and coordinating technical information between the project team, owner, Engineer of Record (EOR), subcontractors, and field leadership. You will manage RFIs and coordinate resolution of Non-Conformance Reports, and review specifications, technical data, plans, shop drawings, and project details for contract and design conformance.
A significant portion of the work involves cast-in-place (CIP) concrete wall construction, including retaining walls, MSE walls, sound walls, bridge approach walls, and wing walls. You will support layout, reinforcing steel coordination, formwork, concrete placement, and curing activities, and schedule and monitor construction activities across the project. Identifying conflicts, delays, and technical issues before they disrupt the field is central to the role, as is developing operational work plans and procedures with EOR and owner approval when required.
On the commercial side, you will estimate quantities, build bills of materials, and help maintain project budgets. You will review supplier quotes from quality, manufacturing, engineering, and design perspectives, negotiate and manage subcontractor contract terms and change orders, and track cost versus bid performance variance to support cost-benefit analysis. You will also schedule and support quality control and quality assurance inspections, coordinate surveying operations, and support implementation of the Safety, Health, and Environmental program.
