Must-Haves
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 2+ years of controls or electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of machine/process control hardware, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, ControlLogix, Wonderware HMI, and Rockwell FactoryTalk
- Understanding of electrical power distribution, process control systems, and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and OSHA 1910 safety standards
- Ability to support capital projects, process optimization, and equipment upgrades
Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Buffalo, NY Manufacturing Plant
Compensation: $85,500 – $123,200 annually
Join a leading manufacturing operation as a Senior Controls Engineer, where you’ll play a critical role in optimizing plant power and control systems, improving reliability, and supporting automation initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to lead technical improvements, support plant-wide electrical and process control systems, and help drive operational excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary administrator and troubleshooter for plant power and control systems
- Provide technical leadership on electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems to improve plant reliability and performance
- Develop and maintain power and control standards and ensure consistency across projects and system upgrades
- Lead execution of the site master plan for power and controls, including modernization and replacement of obsolete technologies
- Support and develop Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) technicians through skills training and technical mentorship
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety and regulatory standards, including NFPA and OSHA requirements
- Validate MES data from PLCs and support process engineers with automation and data analysis initiatives
- Assist in the design and implementation of machine control systems, HMI development, process automation, and KPI tracking
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, reliability, and cost performance
- Support quality and compliance systems, including checkweighers, metal detectors, vision systems, ingredient flow, and temperature controls
- Partner with leadership on equipment selection, installation, and startup, becoming the technical expert for new systems
- Manage projects ranging from electrical and controls upgrades to full capital initiatives
- Apply control systems, simulation, and process modeling technologies to improve production and packaging performance
