Tax Manager, Public Accounting

Woodland Hills, CA | Full-Time

A public accounting firm based in Woodland Hills, California seeks an experienced Tax Manager to lead complex tax engagements and provide advisory services to a client base that includes business owners, closely held corporations, partnerships, LLCs, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals. The role combines technical tax work with client relationship management and staff development responsibilities. An active CPA license is required.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, based out of the Woodland Hills, California office. Schedule may vary seasonally based on engagement deadlines.

Compensation: $145,000 - $184,999 Per Year

What You'll Do

You will manage and review complex tax engagements across a range of entity types, including C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, LLCs, trusts, and individual returns. Tax planning is a central responsibility: you will lead planning initiatives for business and individual clients, advise on entity structuring and restructuring strategies, and provide proactive guidance on long-term tax positioning. You will also support mergers and acquisitions activity, including due diligence, structuring analysis, and post-transaction integration considerations.

Provision work is a regular part of your technical scope. You will prepare and review tax provisions and consolidated filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance across complex multi-entity structures. Beyond individual engagements, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating significant financial decisions, maintaining and strengthening those relationships over time.

Internally, you will mentor and develop junior staff, review their work product, and contribute to their technical growth. You will also participate in practice development activities, including identifying opportunities to expand services to existing clients and supporting the firm's broader growth initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Active CPA license
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong technical expertise in tax provisions and consolidated filings
  • Demonstrated experience with corporate, partnership, LLC, trust, and individual taxation
  • Experience advising on mergers, acquisitions, entity structuring, and restructuring transactions
  • Proven ability to manage client engagements and mentor junior staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in client-facing advisory roles

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of public accounting tax experience
  • Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or LLM in Taxation
  • Experience with high-net-worth individual or family office clients
  • Background in business development or client relationship expansion within a public accounting firm
  • Familiarity with California state and local tax considerations for closely held businesses
