HR Business Partner

A professional services firm with operations in the Pittsburgh area is hiring an HR Business Partner to support its people operations across talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. This is a generalist-level role working closely with firm leadership, resource management, and cross-functional HR teams including recruiting, total rewards, and learning and development. The position is well suited for an HR professional with experience in a professional services environment such as law, engineering, finance, or accounting.
Schedule
Full-time, standard business hours, Monday through Friday, based in Pittsburgh, PA.
Compensation
$70,000 to $80,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus eligibility for a performance bonus.
What You'll Do
You will partner with leadership and resource management to identify hiring needs, support onboarding and orientation processes for new hires, facilitate new employee integration, and assist with retention strategies. You will also support the campus recruiting function by participating in local campus events as needed.
On the employee relations side, you will serve as a point of contact for employees and managers navigating HR-related matters, address employee concerns, mediate workplace conflicts, and support a constructive work environment. You will assist with performance management processes including goal setting, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans, and manage employee investigations and separations with appropriate discretion.
You will be responsible for ensuring the firm's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and supporting policy management across the organization. You will maintain accurate employee records in Workday (the firm's HRIS), generate HR reports, and use workforce data to inform business decisions and support workforce planning and organizational change initiatives.
You will collaborate with the learning and development function to identify training needs, support inclusion and employee engagement programs, and help promote firm-wide initiatives across offices. You will also work across cross-functional HR areas including recruiting, total rewards, and resource management to support a consistent and integrated HR function.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2 or more years of HR generalist experience, preferably within a professional services environment such as law, engineering, finance, or accounting
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Proficiency with HCM or HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday as a primary HRIS
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification
- Experience supporting campus recruiting programs or new hire integration initiatives
- Familiarity with performance management frameworks, including goal-setting processes and performance improvement plans
- Experience supporting employee engagement or inclusion initiatives in a multi-office environment
