Project Engineering Manager
Peru, IN | $125,000 to $155,000 plus bonus
This Project Engineering Manager role leads large-scale, complex technical projects within the food industry, with the opportunity to lead a team of engineers both directly and indirectly. The Project Engineering Manager oversees the design, development, and implementation of engineering solutions, working independently on most tasks while providing leadership on the more complex technical challenges.

What You’ll Do
The Project Engineering Manager develops engineering designs, material specifications, and project cost estimates, and conducts feasibility studies and economic analysis to support those designs. This person ensures designs meet required codes and standards, validates field work, and creates as built drawings, while also reviewing engineering submissions for accuracy and completeness. The role includes managing project execution by directing vendors and contractors, coordinating project schedules with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors, and collaborating with management and engineering teams to implement plans. The Project Engineering Manager partners with vendors and contractors on layout planning and utility requirements, reviews consultant work and recommends adjustments, and maintains documentation such as manuals, drawings, specifications, and vendor contacts. This person also conducts planning and reviews during pre-project phases, defines scope of work, and prepares and evaluates proposals, submits regular status reports to management, manages contract administration, reviews bid packages, and prepares project documents including budget analyses, plans, and schedules while monitoring installations to ensure they meet specifications and stay within budget. This role requires travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university in Engineering or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

2+ years of experience in a leadership position, including team development and management

Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues

Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling

Project management and contract administration skills, including interpretation of national codes and standards

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office

Strong written and verbal communication, organizational planning, and analytical reasoning skills

Proficiency in engineering economics

Ability to travel to other locations approximately 50% of the time
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience managing multi-million dollar projects with large scopes

Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry
