Rubber Materials Engineer

A company is hiring a Rubber Materials Engineer to support the development and commercialization of products utilizing advanced materials, including thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, coatings, and metallic alloys. This role works on projects from concept through production, gaining hands-on experience in polymer processing, plastic part design, materials development, testing, and failure analysis.

Schedule
Full-time. Willingness to travel globally up to 10 percent. Relocation assistance available.

Compensation
$120,000 - $150,000 Per Year

What You'll Do
This engineer develops and evaluates new products, materials, and components, and supports product design from concept through commercialization and production. The role develops polymer formulations and evaluates material performance, and coordinates prototyping, testing, validation, and pilot production. This position conducts and interprets thermal, mechanical, and chemical testing, including FTIR, DMA, DSC, TGA, and tensile testing, and troubleshoots design, material, tolerance, and manufacturing issues. The engineer participates in supplier selection, tooling, and cost evaluations, leads or participates in cross-functional design reviews, and prepares technical documentation and provides product training. This role collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and suppliers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Materials, Polymer, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with rubber materials, rubber formulation, and rubber molding
  • Knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, testing, and failure analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel globally up to 10 percent

Preferred Qualifications

  • FEA experience with Abaqus or ANSYS
  • Moldflow Insight experience
