Assistant Project Manager, Heavy Civil Highway

Fredericksburg, VA (Onsite, Virginia projects)

Step up toward running your own projects with a long-established, family-owned, self-perform heavy civil contractor. You will work alongside a senior PM on roadway, highway, and utility projects, much of it VDOT work, on a team where the PMs came up the same way. Pay is $110K to $140K, and relocation is available.

Must-Haves

• 3+ years on heavy civil, highway, or utility projects as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or APM
• Working knowledge of scheduling and cost tracking
• B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent field experience
• Valid driver's license
• Based in Virginia or ready to relocate

What You'll Do

• Drive submittals, RFIs, and procurement to keep crews ahead of the work
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders
• Track quantities, production, and cost against budget
• Prepare monthly pay applications and cost projections
• Support schedule updates and change management
• Work with VDOT inspectors and owner representatives
• Keep project documentation current and support jobsite safety

Nice-to-Haves

• VDOT or other DOT project experience (strongly preferred)
• HeavyJob, Bluebeam, or P6
