Must-Have Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience in the wholesale industry (apparel preferred)

• Hands-on experience working with large retail accounts

• Proven experience with letters of credit, duty payments, and sales commissions

• Strong background in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

• Proficiency in Sage 100 accounting software

• Experience with bank reconciliations, wire transfers, and financial reporting

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join a New York City-based company in the wholesale apparel industry. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with hands-on experience supporting retail-driven businesses, managing complex transactions, and ensuring financial accuracy across daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, and general ledger activities

• Process and approve vendor invoices, generate checks, and initiate wire payments

• Handle accounts receivable, including order approvals, reconciliations, and credit card processing

• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records

• Issue and manage letters of credit and oversee duty calculations and payments

• Calculate and process sales commissions

• Support financial reporting and month-end close activities

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient and accurate financial processes
