Boiler Technician

Summary

We are seeking a skilled Boiler Technician to monitor and maintain the boilers at our facility in Alexandria, MN. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the boilers provide sufficient power for the processing of raw ingredients. The Technician will work in a rotating shift schedule.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

The Boiler Technicians will work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule.

  1. Safely and efficiently operate the boiler process.
  2. Regularly communicate with other Technicians to maintain consistent operation across shifts.
  3. Adhere to all plant policies and procedures.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the plant.
  5. Assist in updating operating procedures and training manuals.

Monitor and Control Plant Operations.

  1. Work with plant control systems, such as DCS & PLC.
  2. Record daily logs for all plant equipment.
  3. Operate and maintain boilers, dryers, water treatment, and auxiliary equipment.
  4. Follow standard operating procedures for boilers, dryers, water treatment, and auxiliary equipment.
  5. Troubleshoot plant operation issues and conduct field monitoring.
  6. Support maintenance and cleanliness of plant process areas and equipment.
  7. Assist with grain handling, shipping, and receiving.

Participate in Quality Assurance program.

  1. Collaborate with QA lab to implement QA policies and procedures for the energy center.
  2. Sample and test process streams as required.
  3. Maintain QA records.
  4. Analyze and interpret QA results and take appropriate action.

Contribute to Plant Maintenance program.

  1. Coordinate maintenance and repair work with the maintenance department.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance activities.
  3. Assist maintenance technicians in repairs and troubleshooting.

Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.

  1. Understand and comply with relevant regulations.
  2. Participate in plant safety program and follow procedures.

Other.

  1. Follow programs and procedures for plant cleanliness.
  2. Monitor process chemical use and inventories.
  3. Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  1. Hold a valid State of Minnesota 1st Class B Boiler Engineer license or higher.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  3. Ability to effectively use computerized maintenance management systems.
  4. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  5. Excellent time management skills.
  6. Preferred minimum degree from a two-year college, technical/vocational school, military background, or 3 years of work experience.
  7. Working environment:
  8. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  9. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, climbing ladders, and working in high, precarious places, as well as outdoor weather conditions. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  10. May be exposed to high noise environments occasionally.
