Controls Engineer

We are seeking an individual with a background in controls engineering or industrial automation to join our team as an Automation Engineer focused on Mitsubishi Automation products.

This role requires expertise in developing new PLC programs and the ability to troubleshoot and assist customers with their technical issues. Additionally, you will provide consultation to the sales team on various automation applications such as PLC, HMI, Motion, and Robotics.

60% of your time will be spent in the office
40% of your time will be dedicated to hands-on customer support


We are a Philadelphia-based automation distributor and solution provider. As a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role as a technical resource supporting our sales team, helping them select the best automation solutions from our product offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate expert technical knowledge of PLC/PC/HMI/robotics (Mitsubishi, Festo, Balluff, Standard Bots)
  • Create and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic solutions
  • Program using ladder/SFC/FBD/ST
  • Commission small automation systems
  • Advise customers on selecting the most suitable products/solutions for their specific applications
  • Assist suppliers and salespeople in understanding our products and their position within the market
  • Deliver presentations to customers and internal staff on engineering solutions
  • Provide product demonstrations for key suppliers

Required Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Experience with Industrial Automation Hardware and Pneumatics
  • Proficiency in designing Pneumatic and Electrical Automation Solutions
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and TEAMS
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design tools
  • Comfortable designing electrical and pneumatic circuits
  • Proficient in IEC 61131-3 PLC programming methods

Position Type/ Work Hours:

  • This is a full-time position with occasional weekend work required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a Technical Degree or Certificate in a relevant controls engineering field
  • At least two years of experience in Industrial Controls Engineering
  • Prior use of Microsoft Office tools in a work-related setting
  • Experience programming PLCs and industrial computers

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Over five years of experience in Industrial Automation Controls Engineering
  • BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls, or Manufacturing Engineering
