Job Summary of the Engineering Designer: The Engineering Designer plays a crucial role in executing new product projects and coordinating tasks with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager. They will closely collaborate with the APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager, the New Products team, and other departments. This position requires frequent use of electrical and mechanical engineering tools as well as computer modeling skills. The Engineering Designer will be responsible for developing concept designs for future product platforms in anticipation of the company's evolving needs, incorporating both electrical and mechanical solutions into electromechanical concepts.

Job Responsibilities of the Engineering Designer:

· Provide support and timely completion of program and project deliverables to achieve customer and company product development goals in a cost-efficient manner.

· Conduct mechanical engineering analysis to enhance existing products, develop new concepts, improve functionality, reduce costs, enhance performance, and simplify manufacturability.

· Brainstorm and support the innovative design of new products using a combination of new and existing materials, production methodologies, and technologies.

· Collaborate with product lines to generate ideas and concepts for future development.

· Research the market, technical feasibility, economic viability, and manufacturing feasibility of new ideas.

· Assist with program and project management tasks for specific customers and align them with company product line plans.

· Investigate different materials, purchased components, and manufacturing processes to support concept development.

· Provide design and management support for programs and projects within the Corporate Technology work group.

· Collaborate with sales and customers to determine project requirements and key elements.

Education & Experience of the Engineering Designer:

· Proficiency in relevant software applications and computer skills for job performance.

· Experience with Creo/Windchill software.

· Proficient in Creo software for creating, updating, and finalizing models.

· Proficient in Windchill software for creating, updating, and finalizing Windchill data.

· Comprehensive understanding of Inertial Calculations to collaborate with external resources.

· Mid-level understanding of tolerance stack calculations and Six Sigma Design Tools for product design and detailing.

· Ability to conduct spring stress analysis to prevent failures due to excessive stress.

· Comprehensive understanding of strength of material strategies for engineering and designing products.

· Comprehensive understanding of kinematic analysis for mechanical advantage and travel analysis.

· Basic understanding and application of GD&T for product design and detailing.

· Basic understanding of reliability and confidence levels for design verification and validation.

· Comprehensive understanding of relevant work instructions, forms, and ECN activities (Dept. 111).

· Knowledge of drafting standards and ECN requirements/checklists during project development.

· Basic understanding and ability to contribute to constructing PFMEA in cross-functional teams (APQP).

· Comprehensive understanding and ability to contribute to constructing DFMEA in cross-functional teams.

· Comprehensive understanding and ability to contribute to creating, updating, and finalizing DPAR documents.

· Basic understanding and ability to support SPMs, Project Engineers, and Product Managers with ideas and improvements.
