Harvest Floor Operator

Compensation: $20 to $30 per hour, based on experience

This independent meat processing facility in north-central Ohio is adding an operator to its harvest floor team. The operation processes beef, pork, lamb, and goat across a five-day schedule and is actively investing in its harvest operations, with new equipment and a consolidation project currently underway.

Schedule
1st shift, Monday through Friday.

Compensation
$20 to $30 per hour, based on experience.

What You’ll Do

The Harvest Floor Operator performs all phases of the harvest process, including stunning, bleeding, skinning, eviscerating, splitting, and trimming, while handling livestock humanely and in accordance with all animal welfare requirements. This role trims, washes, and weighs carcasses to meet quality and compliance standards, and maintains knife sharpness and harvest floor equipment in proper working condition throughout the shift.

This position keeps workstations, walls, equipment, and the harvest floor clean and sanitized at all times, and follows all HACCP protocols and food safety requirements without exception. As skills develop, the Harvest Floor Operator supports barn duties including weighing, feeding, and watering livestock, and assists with general sanitation and end-of-shift cleanup procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Physically capable of sustained standing, heavy lifting, and working in hot, cold, and damp conditions throughout a full shift
• Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work as part of a close-knit production team
• Ability to communicate in English sufficient to follow safety and food-handling procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of harvest floor, slaughter, or meat processing experience
• Knife skills or a clear interest in developing them on the job
• Agricultural or livestock handling background
• Familiarity with beef primal and subprimal cuts
