Electrical Engineer

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Reading, PA. In this role, you will be responsible for making modifications and improvements to equipment and facilities to ensure electrical safety. You will also be responsible for conducting safety investigations and implementing corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, document, and enhance preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment availability and throughput.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot equipment failures and production losses.
  • Assist maintenance team in returning equipment to operation quickly to minimize downtime and lost production.
  • Provide "on call" support and supervise daily work for plant electronic technicians.
  • Analyze production delay data to establish or modify preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement projects based on production delay data.
  • Prepare and review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and evaluate corrective action items and their impact on preventive maintenance programs.
  • Create cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions.
  • Develop work orders to outline the work needed to implement improvement projects or corrective actions.
  • Follow up and audit to ensure proper completion of work orders.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors, maintenance personnel, and production personnel to minimize costs and production impacts.
  • Conduct critical spare parts assessments and promote parts standardization.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures, training, and skill development programs for electricians and electronic technicians.
  • Establish performance metrics to drive continuous improvement programs aligned with department objectives.
  • Provide support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Perform Project Engineering duties.
  • Fill in for Supervisors or Department Manager when needed and perform other assigned duties.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work with planning to schedule extended production outages and major maintenance work.
  • Work with maintenance supervisors and department managers to determine priorities and establish schedules.
  • Support the management and maintenance of the plant computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with maintenance craftsmen and operations to resolve equipment failures.


  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Expertise, knowledge, and training in engineering and maintenance
  • Extensive knowledge and training in product manufacturing
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes for forged or flat rolled metal products
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and traits such as being action-oriented, conflict manager, decision maker, comprehensive listener, time manager, and having a positive attitude
  • Ability to fulfill the roles of facilitator, coach, mentor, counselor, and communicator
  • Computer skills and the ability to advance those skills as required

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Formal training or experience with Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of proven experience in a Maintenance Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor position
