Electrical Engineer

Position Summary: Responsible for the design, development, and testing of circuits and systems used in testing equipment control. Additionally, the role involves creating electrical and controls engineering documents, specifying electrical controls equipment and panel components, and reviewing proposed design changes for compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. Collaboration with suppliers to procure engineered components and understanding of relevant standards is necessary for this position.


Duties and Responsibilities / General Competencies:

  • Perform electrical engineering tasks, including machine/industrial automation and product and prototype testing
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring the creation, maintenance, and execution of associated engineering documentation
  • Design, operate, and test systems and applications using low to medium voltage, DC circuits, and various analog distribution systems
  • Size and select electrical and control components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and motor starters
  • Develop, review, and analyze electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control descriptions, and PLC/HMI code for various electro-mechanical systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry, engineering, and customer standards and specifications
  • Apply knowledge of electric codes and standards in design and programming of PLC, HMI, and Ethernet interfacing; Develop control logic diagrams
  • Utilize experience with PLC’s, HMI’s, temperature controllers, and control panel design to fulfill job requirements
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical and applied problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting, problem identification, and resolution of programs and systems
  • Provide support to Field Service Technicians during equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Resolve design and assembly issues on the production floor when necessary
  • Communicate and support customers in sales-related matters

Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and 5-10 years of relevant experience preferred*

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Autodesk products, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Inventor Pro
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to learn other software as required
