Engineering & Maintenance Director

$185K – $225K plus bonus

Lead the engineering and maintenance operations for a high-volume manufacturing plant where your strategic vision will directly reduce downtime, optimize performance, and drive millions in cost savings.

Must-Haves

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field from a regionally accredited four-year institution

Experience:

• 10+ years in Engineering management or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years in leadership positions including team development and management
• Food manufacturing experience required
• Multi-million dollar CapEx management experience
• Ammonia Refrigeration background

Technical Expertise:

• Advanced technical skills in mechanical/electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering)
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, and TPM
• AutoCAD experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP

Strategic Capital Project Leadership

• Lead capital projects from concept to completion, delivering on time and on budget with zero compromise on safety, food safety, or environmental standards
• Minimize operational disruption while enhancing plant capabilities through impactful, strategic improvements
• Drive resource planning efforts across large-scale manufacturing operations

Maintenance Excellence & Reliability

• Develop and execute advanced maintenance strategies including Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
• Reduce downtime and boost efficiency to ensure seamless, reliable production
• Keep equipment running at peak performance while propelling the plant toward operational excellence

Operational Problem-Solving

• Become the go-to problem solver for daily operational challenges
• Troubleshoot issues and implement long-term fixes that minimize recurring problems
• Take a proactive approach that keeps production running smoothly

Data-Driven Performance Management

• Develop and track Key Performance Indicators that measure maintenance function success
• Monitor equipment reliability, supplier performance, and overall equipment effectiveness
• Analyze data to optimize production processes and reduce waste, directly impacting operating costs

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and inspire high-performing engineering and maintenance teams through effective coaching and performance management
• Foster a culture of safety, communication, and recognition
• Build a diverse, empowered workforce through collaboration with HR
• Delegate tasks effectively while enforcing policies and safety-first planning

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work across departments to drive strategic initiatives and tackle complex challenges
• Ensure excellence in maintenance and capital budget management
• Partner with leadership to advance plant-wide continuous improvement efforts

Work Environment

This role requires flexibility and commitment to operational excellence. You may be required to work extended hours and weekends based on production needs and project schedules. You'll work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where your decisions have immediate, measurable impact on plant performance and profitability.
