Heavy Civil Project Manager
Senior Civil Construction Manager
• Develop and implement plans for civil construction projects in accordance with project requirements and engineering standards
• Efficiently manage project budget and ensure the project meets expected margins. Provide accurate and timely cost and income projections, and take appropriate action to address changes in project margins and budget variances to ensure profitability
• Create and update project schedules with realistic timetables for future work items
• Maintain overall project quality control, including reviewing project designs to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and relevant specifications
• Ensure adherence to company and site safety policies and protocols at all site operations. Promote Incident and Injury Free protocols and foster a safety-focused culture on the project
• Generate and maintain project-related documentation and correspondence. Prepare analytical reports for upper management presentations
• Collaborate with field management to resolve issues between project plans and site execution on an ongoing basis
• Approve changes in equipment or personnel as well as requisitions submitted by superintendents
• Understand when to escalate issues and communicate them to upper management
• Organize and assign project staff based on project requirements, ensuring the right personnel are assigned to specific projects or project components
• Clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to the entire project team
• Conduct regular meetings with the project team, including scheduling and costing reviews
• Continuously project financial performance throughout the project life and document ongoing projections
• Submit accurate and timely payment requisitions
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract terms and specifications
• Understand the project schedule, key milestones, and reasons for any delays
• Supervise the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders, and ensure proper performance management of subcontractors
• Perform any other assigned duties
Education and Experience
This position requires previous experience as a Project Manager and is not suitable for entry-level candidates
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil heavy/highway projects
• Knowledge of computer software including HeavyJob, BlueBeam, and P6 is a plus
