Heavy Civil Project Manager

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Civil Construction Manager to oversee construction projects in Savannah, GA. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with safety regulations.

The Construction Manager will play a key role in project execution, overseeing estimating, budgeting, scheduling, contract compliance, safety, quality of work, project closeout, and owner satisfaction. They will provide the necessary labor and equipment resources, monitor progress, set strategic goals, and closely monitor performance to meet the project objectives. Additionally, they will provide guidance and training to field supervision and project engineering teams to promote professional growth and improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entirety of a heavy highway, road, or bridge construction project or a significant segment of a project
  • Plan and execute complex or technical tasks, utilizing sound judgment and decision-making authority
  • Oversee field construction activity, engineering, and other project support activities
  • Ensure contract execution is in line with schedule and budget
  • Establish and maintain relationships as the primary point of contact with the project owner
  • Administer the contract and protect the company's rights and remedies regarding changes
  • Assemble the necessary workforce and supervise field management to meet contract requirements
  • Utilize negotiation and contract management skills to represent the company with the owner and external agencies

Requirements

  • 5-10 years (or more) of recent experience in heavy highway, road, and bridge construction management
  • Experience with medium to large projects ($50M+)
  • Familiarity with the local construction environment is preferred
  • Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus
  • Proven track record of effectively organizing workforces to achieve project goals
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction disciplines
  • Strong leadership abilities
