This Maintenance Superintendent role leads a team of Maintenance Supervisors within the maintenance and engineering function of a food manufacturing plant in Cudahy, WI. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for building and equipment maintenance performance, minimizing mechanical downtime, and keeping production lines running with uninterrupted product flow.
Schedule
1st shift. May require occasional long hours and weekend work depending on plant needs.
Compensation
$100,000 to $130,000, plus a flat rate bonus.
What You’ll Do
The Maintenance Superintendent leads maintenance systems to drive plant performance and manage costs, applying Root Cause Analysis, Reliability Centered Maintenance, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to keep the plant operating at full capacity. This person schedules work and reduces unscheduled downtime to minimize disruption and improve efficiency, and leads the maintenance team through delegation, planning, and organization to ensure smooth execution of work assignments. The role includes enforcing plant safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations, and serving as the primary problem solver for day to day operational challenges, including equipment failures and troubleshooting, to prevent recurring issues. The Maintenance Superintendent partners with the Plant Engineer to manage a Preventive and Predictive Maintenance program using the SAP PM module, analyzes program data to continuously improve equipment condition and reliability, and tracks key performance indicators across equipment reliability, supplier performance, and overall equipment effectiveness.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university

3+ years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

Food manufacturing experience

Maintenance supervisory experience
-
Experience training, coaching, or mentoring less experienced staff, or managing a process or project

Advanced technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs, instrumentation, and mechanical engineering

Working knowledge of maintenance management systems, work order processes, and preventive/predictive maintenance, including TPM

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP

Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

Strong interpersonal and organizational planning skills

Experience leading resource planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or similar maintenance certification
