Mechanical Engineer
Location: FREEPORT, IL
The position of Mechanical Design Engineer in Freeport, IL involves the responsibility of overseeing projects and obtaining project quotations while also designing and engineering equipment. This role requires independent judgment and discretion in executing duties.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with a design team to create designs, sketches, layouts, and schematics.
2. Estimate project costs, including materials and labor, and obtain quotations.
3. Report equipment issues and safety concerns, attending relevant meetings.
4. Manage financial aspects such as budgeting, recording A.R. expenditures, evaluating inventory, and approving invoices.
5. Coordinate job installations and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
6. Evaluate and review new procedures and equipment requisitions.
7. Inspect job installations, equipment operations, and safety.
8. Supervise contractors and hourly workers, providing technical support to the Maintenance Department.
9. Engineer and design equipment and systems, write procedures and equipment specifications.
10. Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required.

1. Preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or possess an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
2. Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience.
3. Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes.
4. Proficient in computer skills, including CAD/CAM operations.
5. Strong mechanical, analytical, and technical abilities.
6. Excellent administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
7. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
8. Capable of leading a team and managing resources to achieve process improvement goals.
9. Consider problems in relation to the entire organization.
10. Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
