About the Role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to work on various applications across our five technology divisions. In this role, you will be responsible for investigating customer needs, designing prototypes, and building products that require both creativity and attention to detail. Our cutting-edge technologies include phased-array systems, millimeter wave active antennas, conformal antennas for extreme shock/thermal environments, and advanced RF systems for government and commercial customers.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. You will use standard office equipment, such as laptops and photocopiers, as well as specialized equipment, including 3D printers, shock and vibration tables, and temperature sensing equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, you will be required to talk or hear. You should have close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This may also involve lifting lab equipment, opening cabinets, and standing on a stool as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with a 40-hour work week. Typical office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, but may vary based on workload and manager's discretion. Occasional overtime may be required.

Travel

This position requires minimal travel (less than 10%).

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for U.S. Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical design experience
  • Experience with electronic packaging for high-reliability environments in DoD and Aerospace industries
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME Y14.5M-2009 and GD&T
  • Expertise in mechanical fabrication techniques for complex geometries, including machining, sheet metal, and composites
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810 and/or DO-160 specifications and test methods
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical review
  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary hardware development environment
  • Strong analytical and hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate complex technical concepts
  • Desire to tackle new and challenging problems
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency in a technical programming language, such as Matlab or Python
  • Experience with concept development, requirements analysis, and new customer interaction in new business capture
  • Leadership experience in technical development teams
