O&M Technician

The position of O&M Technician (Power Plant) in Lakewood, NJ, requires accountability for the safe functioning of equipment in the plant, as well as the monitoring and maintenance of said equipment. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical systems throughout the plant, and is expected to complete all assigned tasks in a flexible work environment. Their primary objective is to ensure the safe, compliant, reliable, and economical operation and maintenance of the equipment. The role also involves supporting both the Maintenance and Operation departments and making appropriate decisions regarding the facility. The Maintenance Technician must exercise good judgment and rely on operational data, and should be willing to work rotating shift schedules.

Responsibilities:
- Provide input on work plans and directions, maintaining strong relationships with other team members.
- Demonstrate a high-performance, disciplined, safe, accountable, focused, innovative, and achievement-oriented working style.
- Identify and diagnose problems in mechanical systems and equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and tests to ensure the plant operates within specified parameters.
- Repair, maintain, and install mechanical systems and equipment, adhering to given instructions.
- Interact with and oversee contractors working at the facility, and assist during planned and unplanned outages and breakdowns.
- Perform various operational, mechanical, and electrical activities.
- Operate plant equipment such as plow trucks, cranes, forklifts, lawn maintenance equipment, snow blowers, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete maintenance tasks, track inventory, and manage equipment history.
- Maintain storeroom inventory and handle shipping and receiving of parts and materials necessary for facility maintenance.
- Demonstrate understanding and compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety policies, operating procedures, and NERC standards.
- Independently operate and maintain the facility efficiently, relying on operation data and the site data historian, PI Process Book, for troubleshooting and data gathering.
- Possess the necessary qualifications and proficiency to operate the facility using turbine and balance of plant controls, including startup and shutdown procedures.
- Identify and communicate any unusual plant conditions to colleagues.
- Complete all necessary permit functions, such as Job Safety Analysis, Work Authorization, LOTO, Hot Work, and Confined Space.
- Provide assistance to colleagues in problem-solving.
- Adhere to regularly scheduled working hours, with flexibility for overtime, irregular hours, and vacation coverage as needed to ensure reliable operation of the facility.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the facility, continuously striving for improvement.
- Prioritize job tasks effectively and efficiently.
- Fulfill any other assigned duties that contribute to the safe and reliable operation of the power plant.

Education/Experience Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years of power plant experience in operations and/or maintenance, including experience as a Control Room Operator (CRO). Preferred qualification: CRO.
