Plant Manager
Location: El Monte, CA
Our client, a respected company specializing in the polishing of metals, is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Assistant Plant Manager for their facility located in El Monte, California. The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the plant, ensuring compliance with company policies and implementing processes that optimize safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct plant and warehouse operations, including production scheduling, maintenance, quality control, and shipping and receiving, in order to improve overall operational efficiency.
- Effectively prioritize communications and interactions between production, shipping, receiving, and truck loading to maximize efficiency throughout the facility.
- Develop and implement a collaborative and proactive strategy to maintain a safe working environment that exceeds OSHA standards.
- Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, addressing questions, resolving problems, and efficiently managing tasks.
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of a Quality system that results in high-quality products and on-time delivery.
- Facilitate effective hiring, training, and retention of employees to optimize plant operations.
- Evaluate and implement corrective measures to improve operational efficiency within the plant.
- Establish preventative and predictive structures for the maintenance of operational equipment.
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventories to ensure on-time delivery and accurate inventory management.
- Continuously evaluate opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and financial metrics.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight charges, repair expenses, and other forms of waste.
- Maintain effective housekeeping practices, including inventory management of plant supplies.
- Adhere to operational procedures and ensure completion of required training.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of equipment, materials, and tools in accordance with safety rules.
- Promote positive employee relations and strive to uphold a high level of employee morale.
- Provide coaching and disciplinary action when necessary to address performance issues.
- Oversee the efficient, safe, and accurate movement of rail cars within the facility.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a metal manufacturing facility in a similar role.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated with the ability to plan and execute daily activities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong mathematical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate, and effectively solve problems.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and stewardship processes.
- Ability to establish accountability and lead by example.
- Proficiency in computer skills and communication tools, such as email, phone, voicemail, and videoconferencing.
- Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with office administrative procedures and competent in the use of standard office equipment.
