Project Engineer

Job Description

The position of Project Coordinator is available at our company located in Asheville, NC. The main responsibility of the Project Coordinator is to provide support to the Project Manager and Project Superintendent. This support includes setting goals, planning, communicating, organizing, implementing, and tracking.

Experience working on medium to large heavy civil projects (with a budget of $10M+) is necessary for this position.

Responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:

  • Reviewing the contract and specifications thoroughly
  • Assisting the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as needed
  • Assisting with the preparation and updates of the project schedule
  • Assisting with quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting
  • Gathering pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including change orders
  • Requesting equipment and material deliveries as required
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve any project challenges or conflicts
  • Assisting with monthly billing, cash flow projections, and change order processing
  • Managing document control, including submittal schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings
  • Reviewing daily reports for accuracy
  • Preparing and maintaining a technical submittal list, NPDES permits, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and Project Progress Schedule as needed
  • Complying with notice requirements such as inspections, survey staking, joint measurements, utility locations and adjustments, testing, claims, and more
  • Issuing correspondence to subcontractors and vendors regarding revised plans or specifications
  • Assisting with project closeout
  • Performing additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in the civil construction field, both in office and field roles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera 6
