Must-Have Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in geotechnical, structural, or civil engineering
  • Advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Proven experience in both geotechnical investigation and structural design
  • Proficiency with industry software:
    • Geotechnical: GEOSLOPE, Slide, Plaxis, LPILE, Settle3D, DeepEX, CIVILTech
    • Structural: ETABS, SAP2000, RISA
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
  • Willingness to travel to project sites, including remote locations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical / Structural Engineer to join a growing team in New York City. This is a high-impact position for a driven professional looking to lead complex engineering projects across investigation, design, forensic analysis, and rehabilitation. You will play a key role in delivering resilient, safe, and innovative infrastructure solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Analysis

  • Lead the design and evaluation of foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, excavation support systems, and ground improvement solutions
  • Perform advanced structural and geotechnical analysis from concept through construction

Geotechnical Engineering

  • Analyze soil behavior, including settlement, slope stability, soil dynamics, and groundwater flow

Forensic & Rehabilitation

  • Investigate distressed or failed structures and develop repair and retrofit strategies
  • Work on infrastructure such as dams, embankments, tunnels, and pavements

Construction Support

  • Provide technical oversight in the field, including inspections, issue resolution, and contractor coordination

Client & Project Management

  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, budgets, and scopes of work
  • Present findings and maintain strong client communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage projects or key components, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and budget

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee quality control of deliverables
  • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

Litigation Support

  • Support expert investigations, insurance claims, and legal proceedings through technical analysis and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Involvement in professional organizations such as ASCE
  • Experience with publications, technical presentations, or committee participation
  • Strong background in forensic engineering and rehabilitation projects
