Structural Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

Design and Analysis:

  • Create structural designs and calculations for buildings, steel, wood, concrete, and masonry structures

  • Perform load assessments and stability analysis to ensure structural integrity

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineers to establish project requirements and specifications

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to meet client expectations

Construction Oversight:

  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications

  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams and address any structural issues

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed design and construction documents, including drawings and specifications

  • Compile reports on project status, including any deviations from the original plans and proposed solutions

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations in all designs

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, materials, and best practices to incorporate innovative solutions

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate structural considerations in project planning

  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to foster strong relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural engineering

  • Proficiency in structural engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, Bluebeam)

  • Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with advanced materials and construction techniques

  • Project management experience and knowledge of construction processes

  • Experience working with architects

  • Familiarity with Microsoft products
