Tax Specialist
Location: Henderson, NV
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Tax Specialist to join our well-established firm in a hybrid work environment. As a Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for providing excellent tax compliance and controversy work product for our diverse range of closely held clients and high net worth individuals.
Qualifications:
- Currently working as a Tax Manager in a US-based CPA firm.
- Previous experience in a Big-4, national, or large local L.A. based CPA firm preferred.
- Willingness to relocate with possible relocation assistance provided.
Responsibilities:
- Lead tax teams in our office and ensure timely delivery of tax compliance and consulting services.
- Utilize technology tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and data security.
- Review and approve tax returns and other tax planning work products.
- Manage tax projects and due dates, acting as the tax preparer.
- Stay up to date with tax laws and procedures and implement changes in tax team workflows.
- Mentor and support the professional and personal growth of tax team members.
- Act as a resource for tax staff and partners on tax issues and questions.
- Maintain professional relationships within the industry and participate in membership organizations.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or ability to become licensed within 6 months of joining the firm.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or J.D. required.
- Advanced degree in Taxation is preferred.
- Strong tax research and writing skills.
- Knowledge of various income tax returns, including individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits, and foundations.
- Experience with complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions preferred.
- Public speaking experience is a plus.
- Proficient in relevant software.
- Previous experience in managing a team of licensed professionals.
- Experience in tax controversy, audit, and rulings is strongly preferred.
