Project Engineer / Project Manager - Heavy Civil
Waynesville, NC (Western North Carolina | Relocation Available)

We are partnering with a nationally recognized heavy civil contractor to hire a Project Engineer / Project Manager for highway, road, bridge, and infrastructure projects in Western North Carolina. Must-Have Qualifications

• 3–10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction (highway, road, bridge, or infrastructure projects)
• Experience working on DOT projects and knowledge of heavy civil means and methods
• Strong skills in project scheduling, cost control, and project documentation
• Proficiency with project management software (HCSS, Primavera, Procore, or similar)
• Ability to manage or support multiple project phases in a fast-paced field environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across field teams, subcontractors, and clients
• Willingness to relocate to or work in the Waynesville, NC area

Key Responsibilities

• Manage or support heavy civil construction projects including highways, roads, bridges, and infrastructure
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
• Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to ensure successful project execution
• Prepare and manage project documentation including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications
• Monitor project costs, productivity, and performance; develop forecasts and cost reports
• Ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and safety standards
• Assist with estimating and preconstruction activities as needed
• Maintain strong client relationships and represent the company professionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
