Pharmacy Director
Chester, VA | $155,000 to $180,000 per year

A growing, independently owned compounding pharmacy is seeking an experienced pharmacist leader to oversee operations and serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge. The pharmacy specializes in both 503A and 503B non-sterile and sterile compounding and is preparing for its next stage of growth. This is a hands-on leadership role combining pharmacy production oversight with team management and operational improvement.

Schedule
Onsite, full-time. Relocation assistance available.

Compensation
$155,000 to $180,000 per year, plus performance bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What You’ll Do
The Pharmacy Director will lead day to day pharmacy operations and serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge, overseeing a team of pharmacists, technicians, and lab leadership. Responsibilities include improving workflows, systems, and accountability across the pharmacy, along with managing staff training, scheduling, hiring, and performance. The Director will partner with senior leadership to support the pharmacy’s continued growth while maintaining quality and patient care standards across both 503A and 503B compounding operations.

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia Pharmacist license (or eligible for licensure/reciprocity)

• Ability to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge under Virginia Board of Pharmacy regulations

• Extensive hands-on experience in 503A and/or 503B retail compounding pharmacy operations, including both sterile and non-sterile compounding

• Candidates must come from a retail or outsourcing compounding pharmacy background; hospital pharmacy, infusion pharmacy, or health system sterile compounding experience does not meet the requirements for this role

• Proven operational and people leadership experience in a compounding pharmacy setting

• Experience implementing systems and process improvements

• Strong communication and team leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• DEA registration

• USP 795 and USP 797 compounding certification or working knowledge

• Prior experience as Pharmacist-in-Charge at a 503A or 503B facility

• Experience managing pharmacy staffing, scheduling, and hiring processes
