Design Engineer (Automotive - Early Career)

We are partnering with a world-renowned Automotive firm in the Detroit, MI area to lead the search for a Design 1 Engineer. This role offers excellent career growth, hands-on innovation, and the chance to work at the forefront of automotive design.

Must-Haves:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)

• 1+ years of experience as a Design Engineer in the automotive industry

• Working knowledge and/or experience with CATIA

• Willingness to relocate to the Detroit, MI area

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

What You’ll Do:

As a Design 1 Engineer, you’ll focus on two core areas: technical design (CAD) and project coordination/communication. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and driving the execution of new product development from design to prototyping and testing

• Designing component parts, including creating 3D math data and 2D drawings

• Acting as a key liaison between internal design teams and the customer

• Identifying and delivering on customer requirements while ensuring performance, manufacturability, and cost targets are met

• Managing project timelines, milestones, and post-project analysis to ensure success

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)

Experience and Skills:

• 1–2 years of automotive product design experience

• Proficiency or working knowledge of CATIA

• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
