Job Title: Field Support Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Salary: $65-75K per annum with additional bonus

Job Highlights of the Field Support Engineer: Looking for a self-motivated Field Support Engineer who excels in customer interaction, possesses technical writing skills, and provides valuable input for product improvements. The Field Support Engineer will be responsible for assembling, installing, inspecting, repairing, and troubleshooting systems both locally and internationally.

Qualifications of the Field Support Engineer:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a field support role with decision-making responsibility
  • Certification or degree in Electronics or Electrical field
  • Ability to travel 70% of the time (domestic and international)
  • Proficient in writing trip reports, test reports, and corrective action reports
  • Knowledge of PLCs preferred
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics for troubleshooting systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a Windows environment
  • Clean driving record is a must
  • Fearlessness when it comes to working at heights

Experience in the use of PLCs, VFDs, data acquisition, wiring, power equipment, and industrial electricity required. Previous experience with Siemens, ABB, and TMEiC platforms highly desired.

Must possess or be able to quickly obtain a valid passport with necessary documentation for international travel.

Responsibilities of the Field Support Engineer:

Regular interaction with customers, vendors, and contractors.

Coordinate participation of vested parties during equipment installation and start-up activities.

Ensure timely response to customer inquiries by coordinating internally.

Troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and other automation equipment on-site and remotely.

Repair installed equipment at customer facilities, handling both warranty and non-warranty claims.

Conduct routine inspections of existing system installations.

Ensure proper implementation of pre-commissioning activities, maintaining work quality and generating accurate reports.

Travel to customer sites to perform final commissioning, demonstrating equipment functionality as specified for customer acceptance.

Support project teams in addressing mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation punch list items as required.

Attend project and construction meetings as needed.

Provide technical training to end-user operators and/or maintenance personnel as required.

Act as a trouble-shooter, analyzing and resolving technical issues, and being available for subsequent customer inquiries.

Independently arrange all details of site visits before departure, coordinating with customers and/or end-users.

Independently handle all travel arrangements (airfare, lodging, ground transportation, etc.).

Provide direct technical support to customers, contractors, sales, and engineering for testing and field service activities.
