- Our Speech and Language Therapists contribute to the health and well-being of our residents by developing and implementing personalized therapy plans. They also conduct audiometric screenings upon request and provide recommendations for further audiology services, if needed.

Responsibilities:
1. Assess residents for communication issues upon request; conduct detailed evaluations and provide written recommendations for therapy plans, if necessary and upon request.
2. Coordinate audiometric screening tests for residents and make referrals for further audiology evaluations or treatments, as needed.
3. Initiate personalized speech-language therapy plans as per physician orders and maintain regular communication with physicians throughout residents' therapy programs.
4. Respect and treat residents with dignity, observing their rights at all times.
5. Keep comprehensive records, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries for all residents participating in speech-language treatment programs.
6. Collaborate with other staff members to address residents' special needs and integrate speech-language treatment programs with other disciplinary goals and approaches.
7. Attend meetings related to resident care planning and family/resident care plan review for residents currently in speech-language treatment programs.
8. Maintain detailed records, including statistical reports on residents, in-service education information, budget details, and equipment/material inventory.
9. Submit statistical reports to the Business Office for Medicare billing and complete assessment forms as required.
10. Participate in staff meetings and mandatory/preferrable in-service training sessions.
11. Contribute to the development and delivery of in-service training programs for facility staff involved in resident care.
12. Periodically review written speech-language policies and procedures, and make necessary updates.
13. Manage program costs within the confines of the annual budget.
14. Adhere to safety rules and practices to ensure the well-being of staff, residents, and visitors in the facility.
15. Generate and propose ideas to enhance resident care quality, improve productivity, and boost satisfaction levels in the position.
16. Fulfill assigned duties while upholding the service excellence standards and goals set for this position and the facility's staff members.
17. Consistently demonstrate the highest level of customer service to residents, staff, and visitors.
18. Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.
Qualifications:
• Hold a Master's Degree or M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school.
• Possess a valid New York State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Preferred certification of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Must exhibit qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
• Verification of qualifications by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Rehabilitation Therapies (including license number/certification number) is required.
• Must perform tasks to the established standards of excellence.
