Job Summary 

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead a team of estimators and oversee the estimation process. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing and approving estimates, maintaining records, and providing guidance to team members. You will also develop bid strategies and manage the entire bid process for negotiated and hard bids. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining budget control during the estimating and preconstruction phases of the project.

Essential Functions

• Lead and guide the estimating team throughout the estimation process
• Prepare a green sheet and assign estimating tasks to the team members
• Analyze and evaluate plans and specifications
• Estimate the costs of self-perform and subcontract items accurately
• Create comprehensive, timely, and precise estimates
• Visit project sites to understand site conditions and restrictions
• Ensure accurate take-offs by the team
• Incorporate historical data into cost estimations
• Coordinate with subcontractors for prospective projects
• Create estimates using Hard Dollar and ensure correct pay item costs
• Create a preliminary project schedule using Primavera P6 based on plans and specifications
• Collaborate with the team to finalize estimates
• Train and prepare Estimators and Senior Estimators from different disciplines for advancement and fieldwork

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience as an estimator in heavy/highway construction projects (Structures, Bridges, Underground, Earthwork, and Concrete Paving) with projects totaling $50M+
• Experience in leading an estimating team
• Preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Prior experience in field operations is preferred
• Proven ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, and project team members to provide engineering and cost data for project feasibility
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Hard Dollar and Primavera P6 is highly desirable
• Additional knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, HCSS (Heavy Bid), AGTEK, and Terra Model is preferred
