Maintenance Manager (Power Plant)

Location: Bridgeport, CT


Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing maintenance and engineering support functions, as well as managing plant improvement projects in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves planning and executing overhaul projects, overseeing vendors and contractors, providing guidance for maintenance programs, and supporting plant and process improvements. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor also manages the maintenance personnel at the facility and assists with other engineering functions as assigned.


Responsibilities:


  1. Perform and evaluate plant-specific functions

    • Coordinate and conduct testing of plant systems and components, comparing data with established standards to identify repairs or replacements needed.
    • Utilize tools and analysis techniques to identify potential equipment issues before they cause forced outages.
    • Assist in the development of preventative and scheduled maintenance activities.
    • Provide support in planning outages.
    • Evaluate equipment failures and assist with Root Cause Analysis.
    • Work closely with the Operations Manager to update Major Maintenance Inspection schedules and expense projections.
  2. Provide oversight and management of maintenance personnel

    • Ensure that generating requirements and plant efficiency are maintained.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety and operational environmental standards.
    • Complete and close out facility work orders using the CMMS.
  3. Assist with budgeting and procurement

    • Assist the General Manager in developing annual maintenance budgets.
    • Proficiently utilize the CMMS program to schedule work, prioritize orders, and procure parts and materials.
  4. Provide coaching and training

    • Develop the skills of the maintenance team to ensure they are qualified for their tasks.
  5. Investigate and analyze plant problems

    • Assist in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events.
    • Provide recommendations and reports, and develop follow-up plans.
  6. Ensure contract compliance and oversee contractor work

    • Provide technical support during the preparation of specifications and evaluation of bid proposals.
    • Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures.
  7. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders

    • Communicate with Corporate Engineering, maintenance and engineering firms, manufacturer representatives, and vendors to discuss field changes, equipment modifications, and resolve issues.
    • Work closely with plant personnel to provide technical support and exchange information.

Additional Requirements:

  • Desired experience with Maximo CMMS and proficiency in the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be physically able to move around plant facilities and stairways.

Unusual Hours Required:

This position may require being on call at any time to address emergency conditions or operational and maintenance problems at the plants. Standby duty will also be required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in power plant-related roles.
