OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST - Home Health

TERRITORY: Serving the South Austin area down to San Marcos

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide exceptional, patient-centered care by overseeing and managing the entire process of occupational therapy for a designated group of patients. Working closely with physicians and the patient care team, you will conduct patient assessments, assist in developing individualized care plans, and implement therapeutic interventions to support patients' goals, engagement, and overall experience. Your expertise will be utilized throughout home health and the continuum of care.

Qualifications

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Expertise in Home Health Occupational Therapy

  • Proficient in computer usage and maintaining accurate records in English.
  • Skillful in providing patient/family education using various communication techniques that consider cultural, ethnic, and personal preferences.
  • Collaborates with patients and families to teach appropriate self-care techniques.
  • Submits documentation in adherence to Agency policy and within designated timelines.
  • Knowledgeable in current federal, state, and agency regulations governing patient care, including incident management and reporting.
  • Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, including upholding Legal Authority: Act 519, Public Acts of 1982; MCL 400.11, which mandates reporting any suspicion or reasonable cause of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an adult.
  • Participates in other mandated activities of the agency, such as in-services, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), and staff meetings.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least one year of experience in providing Home Health Care.
  • Comprehensive understanding of general therapy theory and practice, with the ability to work independently.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1 Year of Home Health Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Examination for Registered Occupational Therapist
  • State license in practicing state
  • Reliable transportation and proof of valid automobile liability insurance
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy school approved by the Council of Medical Education of the A.M.A. in collaboration with the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association is preferred.
