Job Responsibilities:

As a Pharmacy Specialist, you will have a crucial role in our pharmacy department. You will work closely with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure efficient inventory management, accurate prescription filling, patient counseling, immunizations, and exceptional customer service. Your responsibilities will also include managing pharmacy associates, training and development, controlling expenses, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Collaborate with the Pharmacy Manager to monitor sales and inventory levels on a weekly basis.
- Place orders for pharmaceutical stock based on customer demand and profitability goals.
- Accurately weigh, measure, mix drugs, and fill prescriptions.
- Provide advice to patients seeking self-medication.
- Dispense non-prescription medications.
- Maintain open communication with healthcare and insurance professionals.
- Administer patient immunizations regularly.
- Efficiently schedule pharmacy associates.
- Recognize and reward exceptional performance.
- Implement appropriate disciplinary actions.
- Assign tasks to optimize skills and abilities while achieving profit objectives.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager in training and developing department personnel.
- Foster continuous improvement, reduce turnover, and control labor costs.
- Monitor and enhance department operations to manage expenses.
- Ensure labor goals are met.
- Minimize losses due to shrinkage.
- Respond to customer complaints and questions in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Offer effective counseling on prescription-related matters.
- Identify areas for improving customer service and collaborate with the Pharmacy Manager to implement necessary changes.
- Support the Pharmacy Manager in maintaining a safe and clean department.
- Implement an effective housekeeping program to comply with company, health department, and OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate department records and files, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and sales plans.
- Submit required pharmacy reports documenting department activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and superiors to ensure smooth operations of the department and the store.
- Continuously seek ways to enhance job performance.
- Assist and perform the duties of other pharmacy staff as needed.


- In-depth knowledge of pharmacy department operations.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree required.
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification is mandatory.
- Current Pennsylvania Pharmacist License.
- Current Pennsylvania Immunization License.
