Structural Engineer
Structural Engineer (HVAC, plumbing, railroad)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to lead the layout, design, and management of building structures, foundations, and site civil infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective facility enhancements and new installations. Based in Spring Grove, IL, this position will support projects across two additional nearby locations and requires strong project management capabilities to oversee both internal teams and external contractors.
Key Responsibilities:

Design functional plant layouts and engineer reliable foundations for heavy, unique machinery.

Develop detailed designs and documentation using SolidWorks and 2D CAD for structures, utilities, and equipment layouts.

Evaluate project feasibility and prepare budgets, ROI analyses, and cost projections.

Prepare detailed specifications for bid packages, secure vendor quotations, negotiate pricing and timelines, review contracts, and manage the award process for construction-related services.

Create and maintain visual project schedules using MS Project to track milestones and timelines for building and foundation initiatives.

Coordinate and supervise subcontractors involved in plant and office construction projects.

Direct internal project crews during the installation and assembly of structural and civil engineering projects.

Ensure quality, safety, and code compliance during the installation of buildings, foundations, and plant utilities (including HVAC, plumbing, and railroad infrastructure).

Manage modifications, repairs, and redesigns of existing structural assets.

Provide architectural and structural support across all company locations and joint venture facilities.

Perform due diligence to ensure all designs meet or exceed applicable codes and prioritize plant and personnel safety.

Collaborate with the mechanical design team and assist with SolidWorks modeling.

Draft engineered lift plans and demonstrate rigging experience when necessary.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Structural Engineering

Strong project management skills, supported by relevant experience and/or education

In-depth understanding of crane design codes (CMAA)

Familiarity with permitting processes, building codes, and applicable standards

Proficiency in structural blueprint reading and 2D CAD drafting
-
Strong command of Microsoft Office, including MS Project
-
Excellent communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
