Exciting career opportunity available for a Tax Manager in a well-established firm located in Salem, Oregon. Candidates from Big-4, national, or large local CPA firms based in Los Angeles will be considered. Relocation assistance may be provided for suitable candidates.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a tax manager with up-to-date knowledge of professional standards, technology, and data security to lead our tax team. Your main responsibilities will include ensuring the timely delivery of excellent tax compliance and controversy work product, as well as managing and mentoring the tax team. Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee tax teams on-site in our office.
• Advocate for the use of technology tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data security.
• Personally review and approve tax returns and other tax consulting and planning tasks.
• Manage tax projects and deadlines, assuming personal responsibility as the tax preparer.
• Ensure the timely delivery of work and take final responsibility for decisions made.
• Understand and implement professional licensing standards, as well as the requirements of Circular 230, the IRC, and FTC for the tax team.
• Mentor and guide tax team members, supporting their professional and personal growth.
• Serve as a resource for tax staff and partners, addressing tax issues and questions.
• Stay updated on changes in tax laws and procedures, implementing necessary changes in tax team workflows and standards.
• Contribute to the design of annual tax staff training.
• Collaborate with partners and other lines of business.
• Maintain professional relationships within the profession and participate in national, state, and local membership organizations.

Requirements:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting.
• CPA license in California or ability to obtain within 6 months of joining the firm.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or J.D. required.
• Advanced degree in taxation preferred.
• Strong tax research and writing skills.
• Knowledge of income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits, and foundations. Experience with complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax matters, and mergers & acquisitions is preferred.
• Public speaking experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in relevant software.
• Previous experience managing a team of licensed professionals.
• Experience in tax controversy, audit, and rulings is highly desirable.
• Emotional intelligence.
• Demonstrated leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives is preferred.
