District Transportation Manager / Operations Lead

$120,000 to $140,000

Oversees the day-to-day operations of transportation and collection services in the district, implementing effective performance metrics and cost management strategies. This role is responsible for the P&L and provides direct supervision to Route Managers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations in the district and provide support to drivers to ensure safety, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with company, OSHA, and other standards and regulations by implementing necessary precautions.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into injuries and incidents, offering consistent coaching and retraining as needed.
  • Handle personnel matters such as employee selection, coaching, discipline, training, and performance evaluation. Also responsible for making termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Senior District Manager and/or Director of Collection Operations to establish short-term and long-term goals and action plans.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews, develop programs for optimal equipment utilization and maintenance, and monitor labor and material costs.
  • Engage with local agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts. Act as a valuable resource and a good corporate citizen.

Education:
Associate's Degree, High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of relevant work experience.
Experience: 2 years in a supervisory and/or P&L role (in addition to the education requirement).

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record throughout employment.

Experience in at least 2 of the following areas is required: operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource management, supervisor or manager experience, OSHA program implementation and equipment specifications, budget preparation and management, and labor relations issue resolution.

We are seeking candidates from Telecom, Rail, Mining, Quarry, Oil & Gas industries with experience in managing people and budgets. Budgets range from $150 million to $250 million depending on the site. The ideal candidate will also participate in community outreach efforts to promote our company and expand business at the site.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
