A privately held OEM manufacturer of heavy machinery and advanced work tools is hiring a Technical Service and Warranty Manager to lead technical support, warranty processing, and field training. This role serves as the principal technical authority for customer technical support, warranty claim processing, field service scheduling, and hydraulic diagnostic training, partnering directly with engineering from a modern manufacturing facility.

Schedule
Full-time, 1st shift, Monday through Friday. 100% onsite in the Duluth, MN area. Includes an initial 2 to 3 month field training immersion, followed by light ongoing travel of approximately 3 weeks per year for trade shows.

Compensation
Up to $98,000 per year, based on technical depth and experience, plus annual profit sharing.

What You'll Do
This manager serves as the primary technical point person for internal field technicians, global dealers, and end-user customers resolving complex hydraulic and mechanical equipment issues. The role partners directly with engineering, product support, and sales teams to communicate machine performance data, recommend design enhancements, and adapt products to custom client specifications. This position oversees warranty claim processing, maintains the central service database, and manages the master field service scheduling calendar. The manager develops repair procedures and conducts classroom and hands-on maintenance and repair training sessions for up to 30 internal technicians, dealer representatives, or customers. This role includes an initial 2 to 3 month field immersion alongside experienced technicians to master attachment mechanics, followed by light ongoing travel for major industry trade shows.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dedicated technical experience with hydraulic machinery (excavators, material handlers, or specialized attachments)
  • Expert ability to read and interpret complex electrical and hydraulic schematics, using multimeters, pressure gauges, and flow meters for root-cause fault tracing
  • Associate degree in Fluid Power, Heavy Equipment Technology, formal Hydraulic Certification, or equivalent mechanical field experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven public speaking ability to explain technical diagnostic concepts and mentor teams
  • Residence within a reasonable commuting distance of the Duluth, MN area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience within a heavy equipment dealership service department or OEM attachment manufacturer
  • International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) certification (e.g., Certified Mobile Hydraulic Technician or Specialist)
  • Familiarity logging work orders and warranty claims in industrial ERP systems or dedicated service databases
