Speech Language Pathologist - Hospital Outpatient and Inpatient

A regional health system in Elmira, New York is hiring a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for its rehabilitation team. This is a direct-hire, hospital-based role that serves pediatric and adult patients in outpatient and inpatient settings, treating communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Compensation

$69,680 to $85,280 per year, based on experience.

What You'll Do

You will evaluate pediatric and adult patients and build individualized treatment plans based on physician orders. You will then provide direct therapy for communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. You will work with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary rehab team to coordinate care. You will also teach patients, families, and caregivers treatment goals and techniques they can use at home.

You will document evaluations, progress notes, and outcomes according to hospital policy. You will take part in department initiatives, in-service training, and continuing education, and help develop new speech therapy programs and services for the health system.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree from an ASHA-accredited speech-language pathology program
• New York State SLP license, or eligibility for licensure (or a limited permit for clinical fellows)
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), or eligibility to obtain it
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years of hospital-based SLP experience
• Experience with dysphagia evaluation and treatment, including modified barium swallow studies (MBSS) or FEES
• Pediatric speech, language, or feeding experience
• Experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Training in LSVT LOUD, VitalStim, or AAC
