Accounts Receivable Specialist

Charleston, SC | Compensation: $25.00 per hour

This is an opportunity to join an established intermodal transportation and logistics company in Charleston, SC as an Accounts Receivable Specialist. This role reports directly to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and works closely with sales, customer service, and collections staff to manage customer accounts and keep receivables current. The company is in the process of an ERP system transition, so this position will involve some process changes during onboarding.

Compensation: $25.00 per hour.

What You’ll Do

The AR Specialist posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions, and records revenue by verifying and entering deposit transactions. This person generates manual invoices for ancillary revenue streams such as brokered labor and intercompany sales, and prioritizes and runs customer account statements to support the collections process. Day to day work includes reconciling customer accounts, totaling unpaid invoices, and maintaining organized records of customer balances. When discrepancies arise, this person investigates by gathering information from sales, customer service, and customers directly, and resolves authorized deductions by entering adjusting entries into the accounting system. This role also supports collections by reviewing payment plans and payment history, and prepares receivables summaries, reconciliations, and ad hoc reports for the accounting team as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or a related accounting role

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Accounting degree (in progress or completed) OR a minimum of 3 years of AR, AP, or accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Sage, IFS, or QuickBooks Online

• Prior experience in intermodal, transportation, or logistics accounting

• Experience working through an ERP system transition or implementation
