Environmental Manager - Manufacturing

Tyler, TX | $150,000 to $175,000 per year | Full-time

A large manufacturing plant in Tyler, Texas is hiring an Environmental Manager to lead environmental engineering, compliance, and sustainability for the plant and three distribution centers. The role reports to the General Manager and leads a team of three Environmental Engineers, an Environmental Technician, and an hourly environmental crew. It combines hands-on technical ownership of air, water, and waste programs with people leadership.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site in Tyler, TX, with up to 25% travel to the distribution centers as needed.

Compensation

$150,000 to $175,000 per year.

What You'll Do

You will lead the environmental program for a large manufacturing plant and three distribution centers, setting the strategy and priorities for environmental engineering, regulatory compliance, and sustainability. You will report to the General Manager and serve as the site's lead environmental authority with regulators, corporate leadership, and plant management.

You will directly supervise three Environmental Engineers, an Environmental Technician, and an hourly environmental team. You will hire, develop, and coach your team, assign work, and hold the group accountable for compliance and project results.

On the technical side, you will own air permitting and compliance, including Title V operating permits and PSD/NSR permitting for new projects and modifications. You will also oversee water programs, including wastewater and stormwater permits, and waste management across all sites. You will make sure inspections, monitoring, recordkeeping, and required reporting are completed on time. You will also lead the response to any compliance issues or agency inquiries.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical, civil, or mechanical engineering, environmental science, or a related field
• 8+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing setting
• Proven experience managing a complex environmental program at the plant level
• 3+ years directly managing environmental engineers or other environmental professionals
• Hands-on experience with Title V operating permits and PSD/NSR permitting
• Working knowledge of water and wastewater permitting, stormwater compliance, and hazardous and non-hazardous waste management
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience working with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar environmental certification
• Experience with ISO 14001 environmental management systems
• Experience leading sustainability programs or reporting
• Experience overseeing environmental programs across multiple sites, including distribution centers
