Heavy Civil Field Superintendent - Border Wall

Laredo, TX | $105,000 to $135,000 per year | Full-time

A heavy civil contractor has been awarded a multi-year federal contract, valued at about $1 billion, to continue construction of the U.S. Border Wall in South Texas. It is hiring a Field Superintendent to lead crews on the project. The work covers more than 60 miles of border barrier, along with patrol road construction and repair, bridges, boat ramps, and electrical, lighting, and detection system installation. The project is expected to run about two years, and the Field Superintendent will be based in the Laredo, TX area for its duration.

Schedule

Full-time, on-site at the project in the Laredo, TX area. Candidates must live near the project for its duration.

Compensation

$105,000 to $135,000 per year, based on experience.

What You'll Do

You will supervise multiple crews and subcontractors across a geographically spread-out linear project, directing daily field work on barrier wall, roadway, drainage, concrete, structures, and utility installation. You will read and apply plans and specifications to plan daily production and sequence work across active sections of the project.

You will coordinate heavy equipment operations and manpower, track production against the schedule, and flag issues to project management early. You will work closely with the site safety and quality control teams to keep crews working safely and to specification, and hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, safety, and quality.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressively responsible construction field supervision experience
• Experience supervising multiple crews and subcontractors at the same time
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Experience coordinating daily production, sequencing, safety, and quality requirements in the field
• Ability to live in the Laredo, TX area for the length of the project
• Resume must clearly list each project's type, your role, project value, delivery method, and federal agency where applicable

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy civil or linear infrastructure experience
• Background in earthwork, roadway construction, drainage, concrete, structures, utilities, and heavy equipment operations
• Federal or design-build project experience
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
• Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 safety requirements
• Experience on large, geographically dispersed linear projects such as highways, pipelines, or border infrastructure
