Job Title: Engineering Project Manager

Location: Omaha, Nebraska

Salary: $120-150K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Engineering Project Manager: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager who is results-oriented, adaptable, and can lead a team to meet the evolving needs of our business and clients. This position will involve hands-on project management and engineering tasks, including collaborating with engineers, technicians, and the product development team to build prototypes, conduct tests, and provide on-site support during commissioning activities.

Qualifications of the Engineering Project Manager:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education.
  • 3-7 years of experience managing and leading a technical team.
  • Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Nebraska with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states.
  • Experience in reviewing technical specifications, assessing contract risks, and providing quotations
  • Experience in conducting design risk assessments and verification/validation activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Ability to manage long-term projects and maintain high productivity to meet project milestones.
  • Proficiency in writing design standards.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software
  • Familiarity with regulatory codes such as UL, CSA, NEC, and NFPA.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and a process-oriented mindset to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 10% travel).

Responsibilities of the Engineering Project Manager:

- Manage a team of engineers and designers to complete project-specific engineering tasks.

- Allocate resources within the Project Engineering team, assess and mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of technical deliverables.

- Review and approve ECOs, drawing packages, bills of materials, math data, and other technical documentation.

- Ensure timely completion of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

- Oversee the completion of large projects and custom-engineered solutions.

- Coordinate with sales and project management teams to allocate resources and manage workloads.

- Ensure the timely completion of technical deliverables for large projects.

- Conduct technical review of specifications for quotations and assess contract risks.

- Lead the development of large project custom-engineered solutions, including design, modeling, prototyping, evaluation, and testing.

- Review design risk assessment, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements.

- Develop design standards for transit systems and components.

- Support research and development activities, conduct experiments, and provide feedback on test results.

- Monitor and manage department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

- Review Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and provide support to address root causes and resolve issues.

- Conduct on-site inspections for large projects and provide support during commissioning activities, including national and international travel.

- Coordinate engineering activities across all teams with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Managers.

- Supervise a group of Engineers and Designers.

- Provide leadership, guidance, and performance reviews for the team.

Responsible for directing, coordinating, and evaluating the performance of this team.
