A multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Structural Department Manager to lead structural engineering projects and oversee a team supporting transportation, bridge, and public infrastructure work across Pennsylvania. This role combines department leadership, technical oversight, client development, and project delivery for local, county, and state transportation infrastructure projects, including bridge and structural rehabilitation work.

Compensation $100,000 - $150,000 per year
What You'll Do
Lead, mentor, and support a team of structural engineers and designers while overseeing technical execution, staffing, workload planning, and quality control. Guide project delivery across transportation, bridge, culvert, building, and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations.
Manage structural design and analysis activities for bridges, culverts, buildings, and transportation-related infrastructure assets. Oversee bridge inspections, permitting coordination, and construction support activities including contract administration, project coordination, scheduling, and budget management. Support projects involving local, county, and state transportation agencies, including PennDOT and related public sector clients.
Develop project proposals, maintain strong client relationships, and support business development activities to expand structural engineering services. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders while monitoring project financial performance, utilization, budgets, and overall delivery objectives.
Represent the organization in technical and professional settings, including collaboration with engineering associations, municipalities, and public infrastructure stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania
- 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience
- Experience leading engineering teams, projects, or technical staff
- Experience with transportation, bridge, or public infrastructure projects
- Experience working with local, county, or state agencies
- Experience with bridge inspections, permitting, and structural project delivery
- Strong project management, client relationship, and business development skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey
- Experience with PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike projects
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with PennDOT structural design systems and related software
- Experience managing division financial performance, utilization, or project profitability
