A multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Structural Engineering Manager to lead structural design projects and oversee department operations supporting municipal, institutional, and infrastructure clients. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and client relationship development while working alongside in-house civil, water/wastewater, traffic, GIS, and survey teams. Projects include municipal facilities, public buildings, infrastructure improvements, and structural rehabilitation work.

Compensation $90,000 - $110,000

What You'll Do

Lead the structural engineering department by overseeing project execution, staff development, workload planning, and technical quality. Provide mentorship to engineers and support technical problem-solving across a range of structural projects while maintaining quality control standards and code compliance.

Manage and design structural projects involving municipal facilities, public buildings, infrastructure upgrades, utility-related structures, and rehabilitation projects. Perform or oversee structural analysis and design involving steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems while ensuring projects meet applicable building codes and engineering standards.

Serve as the primary point of contact for structural engineering clients, maintaining communication throughout project delivery and supporting long-term relationships with municipalities, government agencies, and institutional organizations. Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines to deliver integrated project solutions and manage project schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables.

Monitor changes in structural engineering standards, industry regulations, and building codes to support best practices and project compliance. Support proposal development, technical presentations, and business development efforts as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain Pennsylvania licensure within a reasonable timeframe
  • 8+ years of progressive structural engineering and project management experience
  • Experience leading engineering teams, projects, or technical staff
  • Experience designing structural systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, RAM, STAAD, Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and client communication
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • Experience supporting municipal, government, or institutional infrastructure projects
  • Prior department leadership or people management experience
  • Experience with multidisciplinary engineering environments
  • Existing client relationships within Pennsylvania municipalities or public sector organizations
